The 84th Annual Illinois 101 Counties
Checker Tournament will be held
Saturday, October 6th and Sunday, October 7th, 2018,
in Marion, Illinois. We are playing in a new location - Mackie's Pizza, who has a great meeting room available to us, and the
same venue as our 2018 IL Open. Their address is 2704 Walton Way, Marion,
IL 62959.
The Illinois State Checker Association will be providing pizza for meals to
all players on Saturday. Players will need to purchase their own beverages.
The Mackie's Pizza is located west of the intersection of Interstate I-57 and
IL State Highway 13 (Exit 54). Travel
west on IL 13 about 0.6 miles. Turn left onto Walton Way and follow around to
Mackie's Pizza. It is opposite the Sam's Club.
A recommended hotel is the Super 8 Motel at 2601 Vernell Road,
Marion, IL, 62959 (map),

The Super 8 is located to the left off the first light west of the Interstate. Registration on Saturday begins at 8:00
a.m. with play beginning shortly after a 9:00 a.m. business meeting. Seven total rounds to be played. There will be four or five rounds played on Saturday and two or three rounds
on Sunday, depending on player preference; 3 move restriction paired by a modified Swiss system. Entry fee is $10.00. This was announced at the 2018 IL Open by Roger Doll, Tournament Director, and ISCA Sec/Treas.

On October 6th, 2018, the 84th Annual Illinois 101 Counties Tournament was held
in Marion, IL by the Illinois State Checker Association (ISCA). Eight players
attended from three states. The tournament champion and top A Class IL player
is John Grisley. The B Class winner tied between Roger Doll and George
Stallsworth, with Roger Doll as the top Illinois B Class player.. Both classes
played two sets of 3 rounds paired as round-robin for a total of six games per
class A good time was had by everyone. The ISCA wants to be specially thanks to
Joe McDaniel for his generous donation to the prize fund. Please mark your
calendar on April 6 & 7, 2019 for the Illinois State Tournament. Submitted by
